Server Scanner
This powerful tool is designed to help organizations maintain strong data security by systematically scanning and classifying files on Windows servers. Unlike desktop solutions, the Server Scanner operates on server environments to ensure full coverage of all data sources.
By using advanced AI technology, the Scanner accurately identifies and classifies sensitive data, including personally identifiable information (PII), protected health information (PHI), and other regulated information.
Administrators configure in the portal the scanning policies and manage classification groups. Once installed, the Scanner performs regular scans and communicates with the AI to ensure up-to-date classification and protection of all files.
This user manual will guide you through the setup and operation of the Server Scanner, ensuring data security needs are met efficiently and effectively.
Server Scanner Workflow
Initial Scan
The Scanner begins by scanning files on the server one by one, excluding any files banned from scanning as configured by the admin on the portal.
Configuration Check
After scanning a file, the Scanner consults the configuration settings added by the admin in the Cybral Guard portal. This configuration includes specific classification groups.
AI Classification Request
The Scanner sends the file to the AI for classification based on the specified classification groups in the portal configuration.
AI Processing
The AI processes the file and assigns labels from each classification group according to the configuration.
Example
The file should be classified from classification group 1 with label A
The file should be classified from classification group 2 with label B
The AI returns the labels along with their priorities to the Scanner.
Label Assignment:
The Scanner receives the labels and assigns them to the file in the order of their priority, as specified by the AI.
Revalidation:
The Scanner revalidates the AI’s decisions against the portal’s configuration to ensure the labels match the admin's restricted settings and classifications.
Continuous Monitoring:
To ensure the service runs smoothly, the Scanner rechecks files every 24 hours, verifying that all the new files or files subjected to modifications are correctly labeled and scanned according to the latest configuration and classification settings.
